Timber Traditions offer a range of restoration services, not only to the individual homeowner, but also to businesses, architects and government bodies. With years of experience working on historic and period buildings and features, we use only approved and tested methods to salvage even the most fragile detail.
We restore architectural features and structures using traditional techniques, good quality materials and the finest hand craftsmanship.
All our projects are restored in such a manner which is in keeping with the traditional carpentry methods utilised when the object or building was first constructed with the aim of preserving them for future generations.
However, in cases where timber features are past salvation we are able to produce and recreate entire features. Where possible we may incorporate elements from the original. Reproduction also allows the client to tweak a period feature that they loved into something equally as beautiful but perhaps, as in many cases, more practical for modern living.
Some timber structures may have suffered extensive damage; in such circumstances we are able to remove the damaged sections and replicate to protect the structure long term, even to the extent of carbon dating.
Conserve, restore, recreate; in our experience this always adds character and value to a property and is enormously satisfying.
